To follow orders blindly & carry out actions which can kill/maim civilians etc, I am sure the soldiers are asking themselves why they do it. But at the end of the day they did choose willingly to join the military, they weren't drafted. There are times to take personal responsibility for ones actions, if you are the one that drops a bomb that might kill some bad guys and some good guys, you are still responsible even if you were ordered to do so. HiddenIP is right. The U.S. does not want to enter into treaties or contracts where we gain nothing. We do not have to sign a treaty to reduce our greenhouse gases. We can do that WITHOUT signing onto anything. The only thing actually signing the treaty will do is make us legally liable to pay our money to other countries. Why would we do that if they have NO commitment to improve?!

Its a fairly bad cycle at the moment. I have a cousin who works for the accounting department at CBS. He was telling me no one wants to advertise unless they are 100% sure its going to draw ratings like a football game. Its because of that the networks do not want to risk putting on higher quality more expensive shows. It has been suck in this loop and has been getting slowly getting worse since around 2001.
